For the first two and a half innings of Thursday night’s WCAC championship game, DeMatha and Ireton couldn’t have been more competitive. DeMatha’s Santino Rosanova and Ireton’s Dan Nicoll were pitching incredible games as the score was deadlocked at 0. But in the bottom of the third inning, the Stags’ bats came alive.

Second baseman Brock McCallister singled to left, Daniel Dragos followed with a double down the third base line, Chris Cook hit a sacrifice fly, Nick Rivers reached on a throwing error (scoring Dragos) and Mike Perez singled in the third...

Ireton Pushes Past Holy Cross

As the ball sailed into the lower left hand corner of Holy Cross’s net to put the Cardinals ahead 11-10, the Bishop Ireton bench let out a sigh of relief. The score remained unchanged for the next four minutes, and with twenty seconds left on the clock, the same bench was on its feet jumping up and down. The Cardinals secured the win with six seconds left on the clock after the Tartans lost the ball, earning Ireton a space in Monday’s WCAC girls’ lacrosse championship at the University of Maryland, and sending the entire team into fist pumps and celebratory cheering.

With just over a month having past since their last meeting on April 24, both teams came out eager for the opportunity to play for the championship...

Adrian Mills Commits to Pace University

Paul VI senior Adrian Mills has committed to Pace University. Mills has been the driving force for the Panthers the past few years, and he recorded over 1,000 points for his career this past season. Former Paul VI standout Ryan Williams is a senior at Pace. More details on this commitment will be available at a later date.

"A funny thing happened in the WCAC baseball tournament this year. Neither of the two highly-touted favorites made it to the big dance. Paul VI enjoyed a number one ranking in some national polls for high school baseball teams. Saint John's College enjoyed having nine division one baseball recruits on the team, including one that everyone knows is a phenomenon. Neither of those two teams are playing in the WCAC baseball championship, however..."
