Merritt Academy is looking for the following positions for the 2009 Summer Camp season:

Assistant Camp Director will have the following responsibilities which will include assisting with counselor training, ordering camp supplies, supervising camp counselors, coordinating field trips and special events, communicating with parents, and coordinating the Intergenerational program. This position begins in mid-May and until the end of August. Experience as a camp counselor is preferred. Strong organizational skills, strong communication skills, and a good work ethic are a must.

This spring the crew will practice three afternoons a week from 3:30-6:00 and participate in four weekend regattas. DMB Sports Camp is hiring for a summer position to run our 11-week Sport-Trek Challenge Camp for middle school age campers. The program runs in conjunction with several other of our day camp programs in Lansdowne VA and is a licensed day center.

The ideal candidate will be completing degree in sports management, education or outdoor education and possibly looking to fulfill internship credits. The position entails fine-tuning the design of the camp program (which we ran last summer with very good success), possibly integrating new activities with existing ones which include orienteering, archery, team building and geocaching.
