The landscape of the DCIAA West just changed. After playing an ineligible player in a 34-13 victory over Wilson High School on October 5, the DCIAA Athletic Office ruled that Coolidge had to forfeit the victory, which means the Colts are now 5-3 on the season and 0-1 in the DCIAA West.
The rulings means that Wilson (now 4-3, 1-1) moves from fourth place to a tie for second place with Theodore Roosevelt, and the Tigers could move into first place with a victory today and a Dunbar loss to Coolidge.
Wilson originally protested the game on October 10 in a letter from Principal Jacqueline Williams to Dr. Allen Chin, Athletic Director of the District of Columbia Public Schools. Barbara Rockwood, Executive Director of Health, Physical Education & Athletics for D.C. Public Schools, announced the ruling yesterday after determining the player in question had also played for DeMatha in the first game of the season. According to DCIAA rules, playing a sport for two schools in the same season is a violation of league rules.
