The DCSAA is proud to announce the launch of the DCSAA High School Athletics Hall of Fame. Washington D.C. has a long history of excellence in athletics and the creation of the this Hall of Fame looks to recognize athletic accomplishments within all District of Columbia high schools; public, public charter, and independent. We are looking for your support and participation as we try to honor individuals and groups that have made significant contributions to the high school athletic community of Washington, DC.

We will be accepting nominations for honorees until January 31st , 2017. Please help us identify those that have made indelible marks on the DC athletic landscape and nominate someone today. Visit our website for more information and to download the nomination form.

Honoree Category

Requirements for Recognition

Criteria for Selection

Individual Athletes

·         Must be a graduate of a DC high school; public, public charter, or private.

·         Must have participated in varsity athletics at that school.

·         Must be graduated for a minimum of 15 years.

 

·         Outstanding athletic achievement during time as a student athlete at their respective high school.

·         Personal accomplishments since graduation.

·         Contributions that each individual has made to the District’s athletic community during their time as an athlete or after graduation.

Coaches

·         Must have been a coach of a DC high school; public, public charter, or private school.

·         Must be retired as a head coach for at least 10 years or have served as a head coach for a minimum of 20 years.

·         Must have made outstanding contributions to District of Columbia athletics.

·         Personal accomplishments related to District athletics achieved after his/her tenure as coach.

·         Contributions made to the District’s athletic community during their time as a head coach or after the completion of his/her coaching tenure.

Contributors

and special recognition.

·         Must have contributed in some way to District of Columbia Athletics.

·         Any person or group/organization

·         Contributions may be in the form of donations, support of athletic programs at individual or multiple district schools, support of multiple student athletes over a long period of time, or outstanding support with advocacy for District sports.

·         A special recognition award can be given by the Selection Committee to any person or group it feels is deserving of such an award.

Teams

·         The team must have participated in varsity sports at a District high school; public, public charter, or private.

·         There must be at least 10 years since the team has competed.

·         Team must have significant athletic accomplishments during time of competition.

·         The team must have made significant contributions to the District’s athletic community.
