DC Elite kicked off their fall sevens campaign with a strong showing and title run at Maryland Exiles' Halloween Sevens. DC returned seven starters from the summer RCT squad and added additional players from Georgetown Prep and Gonzaga. The familiarity paid off as 11 boys scored tries averaging over 30 points per 14-minute game and the stingy defense allowed only three tries over the five-game tournament.
The boys opened up with pool play and comfortably won against Calvert Hall, Virginia Legion and Bethesda Roosters to take the top seed. Maryland Exiles finished in pole position in the opposite pool followed by West Carroll, meaning DC would play the much bigger West Carroll in the first knockout round. DC wasn't phased by their size and received several early tries to comfortably dispatch West Carroll. The final vs Maryland Exiles again saw the boys facing a much larger and very physical team, but their passing and team speed proved to be too much for the Exiles leading to a final score of 28-7. Georgetown Prep senior David Mitchell took home Player of the Tournament.
