WCAC Playoffs

#1 St. John's vs. #4 DeMatha

St. John's, led by the electrifying play of quarterback Kevin Doyle and running back Keilan Robinson, will take on DeMatha this saturday on Military Road in the first round of the WCAC playoffs. After storming through WCAC play, finishing with an undefeated conference record for the first time in over 30 years, the Cadets will look to lean on their dominant offense against a Stags side that staggered through the regular season. The four-time defending WCAC champs will not, however, go down without a fight, as they will look to build on their winning streak to close out the year by showcasing the talent that earned them the area's number one ranking at the start of the season.

#2 Good Counsel vs. #3 Gonzaga

In a rematch of their meeting two weeks ago, the Good Counsel Falcons will look to repeat their dominant 27-7 performance against the Gonzaga Eagles on Friday night. The Falcons are currently in the midst of a four game winning streak, and are led by the stellar play of their remarkably deep running back corps, and will look to pound the Eagles front seven into submission. Gonzaga, on the other hand, will look to shake off a rough two game losing streak by reestablishing their running game and shoring up a defense that has been porous the last two weeks.

Wise's Quest for Another Undefeated Season

Wise, the area's number one team and reigning Maryland 4A State Champion, takes on Suitland this Friday, starting their climb towards an unprecedented third straight State Championship and undefeated season. The Pumas, led by the fantastic play of running back John Oliver, will look to beat an 8-2 Suitland side coming off a close 26-19 loss to Gwynn Park. While Wise is clearly the area's premier team at the moment, their incredible run has certainly placed a target on their backs for teams looking to make their mark this season, and few would expect the Pumas to cruise through their playoff schedule.
