The golf team at Paul VI Catholic High School recently won the VA State Catholic Championship at Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg. Paul VI edged Williamsburg’s Walsingham Academy by one stroke to win the title 314 strokes to 315.

Also representing the Arlington Diocese, Bishop Ireton finished third and Bishop O’Connell fourth (at 327 and 329 strokes respectively). Paul VI juniors Tyler Wingo and Brandon Luxenburg tied for first as co-medalists at 72 even par. Also golfing for Paul VI were Hinson Peters, Joseph Murry, Chris Abbott, and Jon Patch.

Coached by Milt Papke for 26 years, this championship is Paul VI’s sixth straight state title and their 11th state title in school history. The golf team now looks to defend their 2009 WCAC championship title May 11th and 12th at the University of Maryland.
